What Is a Multi-Stack Tournament Tournament?

In PokerStars Multi-Stack events, each player's included starting chips are split into several equal stacks. Players choose how many to put into play and may add remaining stacks later under the event rules.

THE CORE RULE

How does Multi-Stack Tournament work?

Unused available stacks are part of the original allotment, not separate paid rebuys in the published PokerStars description. Reload timing and automatic addition at the cutoff are event-specific.

Prizes and payouts

Prizes follow the event schedule; deploying a reserved stack is not itself a new payout or new entry.

This is a tournament structure, not a poker game. The event can use Hold'em, Omaha, or another published game. Always read that event's rules and prize schedule.

AT THE TABLE

A practical example.

A player receives five 1,000-chip stacks with one entry, starts with two, and holds three in reserve for later use.

BEFORE YOU REGISTER

What should you verify?

Confirm available stack count, reload window, minimum starting allocation, and what happens to unused stacks at the cutoff.

Operator and venue rules control the exact entry, blind, bounty, payout, and cancellation terms. Poker TDA's tournament procedures cover a different layer of tournament play.

QUICK RULES CHECK

Check your understanding.

In the described Multi-Stack format, is a reserved stack a separately paid rebuy?
