What it means

After the first exposed card is dealt, the player designated by that game’s rules must start betting with a bring-in or a full opening bet. In ordinary Seven-Card Stud the lowest exposed card brings in under the cited PokerStars rules; in Razz it is the highest exposed card.

AT THE TABLE

A practical example

In Seven-Card Stud, the player showing 2♣ may be required to post the bring-in on third street.

A common misconception

The bring-in is not a button blind; the responsible player is determined from exposed cards under the active game’s rules.

Where you will hear it

Seven-Card Stud, Stud Hi-Lo, Razz. The exact usage can vary with rules and context.
