Start with the format
Cash-game chips have direct cash value, while tournament chips interact with rising blinds and a prize schedule. Before applying a chart, identify the game, player count, effective stack, and payout conditions.
For example, 2,000 chips is 100 big blinds at 10/20 but only 10 big blinds at 100/200. The chip count is unchanged, yet the available decisions differ greatly.
Build a decision, not a slogan
Preflop, note who acts after you and how likely they are to call or raise. Postflop, name the worse hands that can call a value bet and the better hands a bluff might fold.
A completed hand is one observation. Record what you knew on each street before seeing the showdown; a lucky river does not prove an earlier choice was sound.
Study and test
Study a concept in Poker Galaxy or the Cosmic Codex, try a quiz, then revisit the original hand with a clearer question. The equity calculator explores completed-hand scenarios. Galaxy Arena offers virtual-chip bot competition, not real-money play or live table advice.
